HANA backup and restore to different host

This post shows how to backup a HANA database on host A and theb restore that database backup to host B.

Backup HANA on host A

Host A: In the context menu select Back Up to start the backup wizard.

Host A: Specify the storage location and the name prefix for the backup files and press [Next >]

Host A: Check the backup information and when all is correct press [Finish]

Host A: The backup is running.......

Host A: ....... and finished succesfully.

Restore HANA on host B

Host B: In the context menu select Recover to start the recovery wizard.

The recovery can only start after the database had been shutdown. Press [OK] to shutdown the database.

The Recovery Wizard is collecting system data.

Select the required recovery method. In this example I select the option "Recover the database to a specific data backup". Click [Next >] to continue.

Specify the location were you stored the backup files from host A. Click [Next >] to continue.

The license key can be applied during the restore. This can also be done after the recovery. Click [Next >] to continue.

Review the recovery information displayed. If it is correct the click [Finish] to start the recovery.

...... recovery finished successfully. Click [Close] to exit the recovery wizard.
